5 MAD Skills You Must Learn Before Starting Your Business

The five most important skills that you must have before starting your business is Project Management, Copywriting, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Facebook Advertising, and Public Speaking. I had to call them MAD skills because they are the skills that “Makes A Difference” between where you are now and where you want to be with your brand/business.

Starting a business is not as simple as making a cup of tea, it takes foresight and critical thinking to identify your entry point, penetrate the market, identify and explore more growth opportunities, and scale.

Without this skills, you’ll find yourself struggling with deadlines, unforeseen challenges, what to write and say to your target audience (customers, partners or investors) at the right time to get them to take the right actions, how to build a strong online presence and be found on the internet by people who are really looking for you, how to use social media to reach out to your ideal customers who don’t know you exist yet, and how to market yourself, pitch what you do and the potential of your business to potential partners and investors.

1. Project Management Skills

The undeniable fact is you’re going to get tired and frustrated at some point in time, sometimes, you’re going to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing and wish you have more time, and you might end up leaving many tasks halfway – abandoning and not completing them. And that’s not too good for you and the business you are trying to build.

According to Alexandra Cote, “Project management is about knowing exactly what your goals are, how you’re going to achieve them, what resources you’ll need, and how long it will take you to reach that specific goal.”

Learning project management will help identify your core goals and objectives, break them down into tasks that are structured into specific timelines, and how to check expected outcomes to evaluate performance. This means you’ll know what must be done at every particular time, by who, and why it must be done,

2. Copywriting Skills
