Nigeria has been in a state of unrest for too long. In every cause and effect situation, there is always the latent and the manifest outcomes, just like there is always an initial and final cause to every mayhem. What we experience now didn’t start in 2020, it is the manifestation of a greedy and corrupt system that is set to create a capitalist economy masked as socialism and democracy.
Yes, we have people to blame for doing wrong, and we’ll always have people to blame for doing nothing at all. This is why a system with generational co-mingling (of the Old and the Youths) is a pressing need, a system where there is a seamless transition between how things are done and how it could be better, a system that thrives with the change that comes with a fearless attitude to embrace the unknown and outperform the former.
It is only natural that when the lion gets old, a new king must lead the pride. This is an opportunity for the youths today as well as a warning. What goes around comes around.
Are we going to be the generation that builds a flexible and sustainable growth template for the nation, or a stiffed-necked and short-sighted generation that has nothing but chaos and disappointment to offer the next generation? Are we going to repeat the mistakes of our fathers?
